The Canon 50D with it's 15.1 megapixel sensor is an excellent choice for anyone who wants an outstanding camera but can't afford/justify the expense of the 5D or 5D Mark II. This kit comes with the 17-85 IS USM lens.

The Canon G10 is a power house packed into a compact body. It's a 14.7 megapixel camera with a 5x wide angle (28-140mm) optical zoom with image stabilization. It offers most of the same functionality of most D-SLR to include Program (P), Aperture-priority (Av), and Shutter-priority (Tv), and Manual (M) modes. It also shoots RAW for ultimate creative control. This is PhotoMann's camera of choice when not carrying his SLR.
A shirt-pocket size 10 megapixel compact camera with 5x optical zoom and image stabilization. The Canon SD890IS has an optical viewfinder which is critical for taking pictures in bright sunlight. This is requently omitted from compact cameras.
For Nikon Fans: The Nikon D300 SLR Digital Camera is an excellent 12.3 megapixel choice. It offers a DX format sensor and a 3" live view LCD.
The Nikon D80 is a great 10.2 megapixel entry level D-SLR for those that must buy a Nikon.
