The Santa Maria della Salute Baroque church is in the background.

Bridge of Sighs
This bridge was built in 1600 as a passageway between the Palazzo Ducale
and the prison.
Crazy Man
This whacked out guy was yelling at himself or someone... not quite sure
who. He would get up periodically and start shouting at swinging a large
knife in his hand. There was quite a crowd watching him from the Ponde
Della Paglia.
Gondola Ride
Gondola rides are mostly for the tourists at this point.
Piazza San Marco
This wide angle view shows the Procuratie Vecchie to the left, the Campanile
to the right and theBasilica di San Marco in the center.
Basilica di San Marco
This famous Basilica is one of the grandest buildings in Europe.
PhotoBabe Chases the Pigeons
PhotoBabe Chanapa enjoyed chasing the multitude of pigeons
in Piazza San Marco. She reenacted the chasing that daddy PhotoMann
himself as a youngster did 30+ years before when he lived just north
of Venice.
Pigeon Blur
The blurred pigeon makes a cool effect in this image
of the facade of the Basilica di San Marco.
Basilica Facade Mosaic
Spectacular mosaics can be found above each basilica
entry. This 13th century mosaic shows the body of St. Mark being carried
into the basilica.
Boat Pier
This view from the San Zaccaria boat pier looking into
the entrance of the Grand Canal. The Santa Maria della Salute Baroque
church is in the background.
Campanile
This rather new Campanile was build to replace the one
that collapsed in 1902. It features a wonderful elevator that's welcome
relief to tired legs!
View from Campanile
The views from the top of the Campanile is spectacular.
This view has the Piazza San Marco and the Basilica along the bottom.
Santa Maria della Salute
This Baroque church is supported by over one million
timber piles!

destinations in full day and half day itineraries. This includes detailed

Eyewitness
Travel Guides: Venice and the Veneto
Eyewitness guides provide great detail on sights and history.
It's a great reference especially with it's fantastic three dimensional
cutaway views of sites and monuments to point out all the details.
It makes finding things much easier than merely having a bunch
of words and a map.
